A few New York signs

I'm taking a few images of signs that intrigue or amuse me. I have no idea what some of the signs mean. "Raise Plow"? I would if I knew what it was! Do I have one? No idea!

Who is it that decided 'DOWNTOWN" was too long to fit on the sign and needed shortening to 'DWNTOWN'? I wonder if the braille is similarly abbreviated.

The names of shops and food outlets intrigue me. "Chirping Chicken"? Now, I'm not a meat eater but I can't imagine that many people who want to eat chicken want to eat it whilst it's still alive and chirping at them!

Some of the things I've noticed about New York:

There are a lot of Pharmacies.

There are not many coffee shops other than Starbucks.

The people are generally very friendly and helpful.

There are a lot of Police Officers. A LOT! The NYPD must be New York's biggest employer, they are everywhere and they usually don't look very busy
.
There are loads and loads of places to eat but not many nice places to sit and drink beer.

There are lots of people running.

Central Park is very, very big and very, very lovely.
It does feel surprisingly safe in the parts of New York that we've wandered in.
